Trusting in God vs. Trusting in Man

Opening Scripture

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.’”

The Danger of Trusting in Man

Trusting in people or in our own abilities can lead to disappointment, failure, and even spiritual ruin. The Bible warns that when we rely on human strength alone, we place ourselves in a cursed position. People are flawed, limited, and prone to making mistakes. Even our own wisdom and confidence can mislead us if they are not rooted in God’s truth.

The Blessing of Trusting in God

On the other hand, those who trust in the Lord are blessed. God is unchanging, all-powerful, and always faithful. He sees the full picture of our lives and guides us according to His perfect plan. When we depend on Him, we receive security, peace, and strength that no human effort can provide.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

Seeking God’s Presence for Guidance

God desires to lead us, but we must make the effort to seek Him. Prayer and time in His Word allow us to hear His voice clearly. The enemy will try to keep us distracted and distant from God because he knows that when we are close to the Lord, we gain strength and discernment to overcome temptation and hardship.

God’s Plan Requires Cooperation

God has a purpose for each of us, but we must be willing to follow His process. Sometimes, His guidance requires patience, faith, and endurance. The enemy tries to fight our prayer life because he knows that through prayer, we receive wisdom, direction, and power to resist his attacks.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Stillness before God allows us to hear His voice and understand His plan. If we rush ahead without waiting on Him, we risk stepping outside of His will.

The Power of Obedience and Faith

True success comes from walking in obedience to God. Those who yield to His Spirit experience divine blessings and provision. The Bible shows countless examples of people who trusted God, obeyed His direction, and saw miraculous breakthroughs.

When we prioritize God over material things and personal ambition, He provides all we need. This requires faith, but God always rewards those who diligently seek Him.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Final Encouragement: Trust in God’s Hands

Like clay in the hands of the potter, we must allow God to shape our lives. If we harden our hearts and resist His molding, we risk becoming useless in His plan. But if we remain humble, willing, and obedient, He will make us into vessels of honor.

Temptation and Triumph

Opening Scripture

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. Unity and Blessing Among Believers

In these verses from Psalms, we’re reminded of the profound beauty and spiritual significance of unity among believers. This unity is so precious that it is compared to the sacred anointing oil used in the consecration of Aaron as a priest. Just as the oil was poured generously over Aaron’s head, symbolizing God’s blessing, unity among the faithful is a vessel of God’s continuous blessing.

Temptation and Triumph

As we consider the importance of unity, we must also be aware of the obstacles that seek to disrupt our spiritual harmony. The enemy often tries to attack the divine appointments and fellowship we share as part of God’s family. This brings us to the Gospel of Luke, where in chapter 4, we find Jesus led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil.” – Luke 4:1-2 (NKJV)

Here, Jesus faces direct challenges from the devil, questioning His identity and mission. Yet, He counters every temptation not with argument, but with Scripture, firmly stating, “It is written…” This moment teaches us a crucial lesson: the importance of knowing and holding to God’s Word in our own spiritual battles.

The Power of God’s Word

The devil’s knowledge of the Bible serves as a stark reminder that merely knowing Scripture is not enough. It is the conviction and authority with which Jesus uses Scripture that helps Him overcome temptation. This emphasizes the importance of not just reading the Bible but internalizing its truths to guide and protect us.

“This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.'” – Isaiah 48:17 (NKJV)

God promises to teach us and guide us. As believers filled with the Holy Spirit, we have the privilege to lean on this divine guidance, allowing God to direct our steps.

Conclusion: Living as God’s Royal Family

By the sacrifice of Jesus, we are reborn into a royal family, heirs to a kingdom not of this world. As children of the Most High, we are bestowed with the Spirit of sonship, through which we can call God “Abba, Father.”

In every temptation, in every trial, let us hold fast to the Word of God. Like Jesus, let us answer life’s challenges with the power of Scripture, remembering always that we are part of a divine lineage, called to live in unity and blessed to be a blessing to others.

Tonight’s Message:

In our journey of faith, prayer is much more than a ritual. It’s a powerful conversation with our Heavenly Father. We express gratitude and share our desires, trusting in God’s perfect plan. The Bible describes this beautifully:

Boldly Approaching God’s Throne

Tonight’s Message:

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget that God has a purpose for each of us. This year, it’s important to remember that God has plans filled with hope and goodness for us. But we also need to be aware that not everything in the world aligns with God’s ways. There are influences, like the spirit of the antichrist, that try to lead us away from what God wants for us.

Being led by God’s Spirit means making choices every day that are in line with God’s will. It’s about choosing to do the right thing, even when it’s not the easiest option. This includes the idea of ‘dying daily’ to our own desires and putting God’s plan first.

Prayer is key in this journey. It’s our direct communication with God, a way to align our thoughts and actions with His will. A life without prayer can feel empty and powerless. Through prayer, we not only talk to God but also receive the strength and guidance to face life’s challenges.

Despite the busyness of life, setting aside time for God and prayer is essential. It’s not always easy, but it’s important for maintaining our spiritual health. This is similar to the teaching of praying in secret, as mentioned in the Bible, where we seek a personal and private connection with God, away from the distractions of the world.

Forgiveness is another crucial aspect of our spiritual journey. Just as we seek God’s forgiveness, we are called to forgive others. This act of forgiveness is not just beneficial for those we forgive but also for our own spiritual growth.
